Good afternoon

This is your special interest email from the team at the News Letter.

Coronavirus update

The Public Health Agency (PHA) has said it has detected what it believes to are two suspected outbreaks of the Delta variant in Northern Ireland. Health experts believe outbreaks in Castlewellan and Londonderry might be attributed to the more infectious Delta variant, which was first detected in India.

Malta and the Balearic islands could be added to the United Kingdom's list of destinations people can travel to and from without having to self-isolate when they return. Holidaymakers and travel firms are hoping that several additions will be made to the green list on Thursday afternoon. People arriving in the UK from green list destinations are not required to self-isolate, but there are currently no viable major tourist destinations in that tier.

Covid-19 vaccination centres in Northern Ireland are to be opened up to all adults.  In recent weeks the centres have been primarily focusing on the 18-39 age group, with those aged 40 and over being offered first dose appointments through community pharmacies.

Have a good afternoon
