Good afternoon

As was widely expected, the Stormont Executive has announced the lifting of more coronavirus restrictions.

Health Minister Robin Swann confirmed on Monday afternoon that up to six people will be able to meet indoors while using social distancing from Tuesday.

In addition, from July 6, vulnerable people who are shielding will be able to meet up to six people outside the home.

People who are shielding and living alone will be able to form a support bubble from July 6 with one other household.

This news is particularly welcome for those people who have been shielding. For many of them, lockdown has been particularly hard.

The announcement came after one new case of Covid-19 was recorded by Stormont's Department of Health since Sunday and no more deaths.

In another move towards normality, Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon announced that there will be a phased  return of MOT and driver testing services in the coming weeks. As part of the plans revealed by the DVA, priority testing on vehicles could resume by July 20.
