Good morning

Welcome to your email update from the team at the News Letter

Today, in print and online, Helen McGurk reports on a 95-year-old World War II veteran, described as Northern Ireland's own 'Captain Tom', who has just completed an amazing 180km cycle, raising thousands of pounds for a charity created in memory of his granddaughter.

Tributes have been paid following the death of Austin Currie, one of the key figures in the civil rights movement in Northern Ireland. Mr Currie died in his sleep at his home in Derrymullen, Co Kildare, on Tuesday. He had recently celebrated his 82nd birthday.

Graeme Cousins reports that an increase in cost of carrier bags to 25p in Northern Ireland has been branded excessive by a retail chief. The increase in cost of carrier bags in Northern Ireland from 5p to 25p will "clobber hard-working families" according to Retail NI Chief Executive Glyn Roberts.

And, from our opinion section:
* Ruth Dudley Edwards: A draining Sunday visiting killing sites along the border, then at Lyra McKee film.

* Dr Esmond Birnie: Increasing interest rate now could lessen pain down the line.

* Jonny McCambridge: Making hard work of the P5 homework
