Dear reader

The localised Covid-19 restrictions announced by the Stormont Executive on Thursday have been causing frustration in the affected areas.

Business leaders in Ballymena said on Friday that they were confused by the restrictions that will prevent residents from visiting people in other postcode areas and that discourage them from making non-essential journeys outside their affected zone.

North Antrim MP Ian Paisley has told the BBC that he was disappointed, saying that the Province shouldn't be "closed down" because of Covid-19.

It was revealed on Friday that a second hospital in Northern Ireland has suffered a Covid-19 outbreak. Several medical staff at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry have had to self-isolate. SDLP MLA Justin McNulty said the news is a "very worrying development".

Arlene Foster said on Thursday that the recent trend had seen an average of 90 new cases per day in Northern Ireland and that trend continued on Friday as the Department of Health confirmed another 88 positive tests.

Meanwhile, the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency said there had been four more coronavirus-related deaths in Northern Ireland in the week between August 29 and September 4.

Have a lovely weekend
