Last year the weather at Balmoral was so perfect a repeat was highly unlikely. This year's show is another success, despite blustery, chilly and drizzly conditions.
We have had daily print pages on the show and online coverage, and today we have as always a 96-page Farming Life supplement. A highlight for me was my uncle David's first visit to the show in 50 years - his dad (my grandfather) kept the event going in the Troubles. David explains how James Kernohan would have been "astonished" to see it on the prison site but recognised it as a good move.
Meanwhile, two fine essays: the Irish language enthusiast Liam Kennedy is scathing about its use for political reasons. And Dr Philip McGarry, whose family was burnt out seemingly by loyalists, writes about how gushing tributes to Bobby Sands remind him of a Protestant father and son killed the day the IRA prisoner died.
With two people questioned over Inga Maria Hauser's killing, it always saddens me to be reminded of that murder of a free spirit who travelled here alone late in the Troubles, when early tourists were rediscovering Northern Ireland.
If you get to Balmoral today, I might see you there. Whatever you are doing, I hope you enjoy it and your reading.
Ben
