There is fine weather on the north coast today for the North West 200, which is drawing big crowds. A minute's silence was held before the first race in memory of the Czech rider Kamil Holan who tragically died in a qualifying session.

As ever, our biking expert Kyle White is covering the event for us online and in our print newspapers.

This week saw a big setback for the Belfast courts and their role in how Troubles probes have become so unbalanced against the security forces. Here is the human rights activists Jeff Dudgeon on this development - back in 2014 he saw that the then Stormont House legacy deal would favour IRA. My own column today on this welcome Supreme Court ruling can be read here.

Talking of legacy, the academic Geoff Sloan has detailed how Tony Blair's appeasement of violent republicans echoed similar from Lloyd-George in the 1920s. Owen Polley gives that book a favourable review here.

This week I was at an impressive documentary on the Belfast company Gilbert-Ash's work on outstanding UK buildings including the National Portrait Gallery in London.

Enjoy your weekend and your reading.

Ben
