The Met Office is showing not even a chink of sun for Belfast in the coming week. After an unusually sunny December and sunny spells early this month, it is shaping up as a wet and cold January.

Donald Trump's implicit insult to the sacrifice of British troops in Afghanistan have dismayed veterans of that conflict from Northern Ireland. This is our editorial on his appalling remarks.

Here is a link to the Charlie Warmington celebration event in Enniskillen I mentioned last week. We will cover the launch of a book about his family's experience of Nazi Austria in the Public Records office and Lisburn Museum on Tuesday lunchtime and evening.

Labour's new legacy plan is near implementation. Despite what they say, it will turn against the security forces, I say. My other column is on blaming lack of funding for rat infestations, rather than personal responsibility.

Lastly, the winner of the BBC show The Traitors, Rachel Duffy from Newry, has revealed the truth behind the "FBI training" she claimed to have received before joining the contest.

Enjoy your weekend and your reading,

Ben
