We were supposed to have rain until lunchtime but it has mostly passed by mid morning.

Today we speak to people who actually like the Northern Ireland weather of whom to my surprise I have over time become one

It was the 70th anniversary yesterday of Harry Ferguson losing a $ million on a coin toss in the merger of his tractor company with an American one

This letter writer thinks we are widening roads too much I could write a treatise explaining why I disagree but it is an interesting perspective.

I have long been pro big infrastructure, and paying for it, but another setback for HS2 and the ongoing success of Dublin Airport reminds me that we seem unable to think big on such things in the UK including Northern Ireland

Brian Rowan's book on the "inside story" on the Troubles got many favourable reviews but Prof Henry Patterson casts a more critical eye here, saying it does little to challenge republican success in persuading people there was no alternative to terror

The many voices who enthuse about the anti slavery campaigner whose statue was unveiled in Belfast don't mention his Christianity, says this minister

There were vehicle tragedies all week. the farmer David Vance died on a quad bike  while Judith McMullan in south Armagh had just got a Harley Davidson motorcycle and across the border two school girls were killed going to a dance

Last week we carried an obituary on Dr Mary Bew. David McNarry did not know she was his fellow Belfast Agreement colleague Lord Bew's mother

Finally, the Church of Ireland has moved out of premises that were part of the former News Letter offices
