It is two weeks since it rained on St Swithin's Day and while it hasn't rained for all of the first 14 of the legendary 40 days, it has seemed almost to have done.

Is the hint of post summer weather why the price of home heating oil has risen for the fifth week in a row in Northern Ireland?

There are still there are still frequent spells of good July weather but now people will not be able to enjoy the north coast beaches due to an outbreak  the lack of warning about which has upset one letter writer

Elsewhere on the coast this Bangor fisherman describes his haul of a blue lobster the catch of a lifetime

In politics, Lord Dodds told us that a new report into the Windsor Framework showed that it failed the DUP's seven tests "utterly".  That seems different in tone to Sir Jeffrey Donaldson so I wonder here about how unionism can reconcile such differences

This is a fascinating read from Harry Mount, editor of the Oldie, about a book of recollections of his former godmother, the wonderful Lindy Dufferin of Clandeboye House Contributors range from David Hockney to Arlene Foster

And here is a story about Dr Mary Bew, the mother of Lord (Paul) Bew, the historian, who grew up in Cork yet volunteered for the British Army in the fight against Hitler, and became a GP in east Belfast

In sport, Michael Dunlop has smashed the Armoy record and here is a photo gallery of football's SuperCupNI
