Good afternoon and welcome to your update from the News letter.

The stormy weather continues to sweep through Northern Ireland and has seen a number of roads closures and power cuts.  The publication of this newsletter was delayed by one of those power cuts so apologies for the late delivery.

In the news today:

* Overwhelming bulk of shootings in NI are by republicans – but loyalists prefer fists and bombs.

* A Co Armagh man who was beaten up and issued a death threat for living in a "republican estate" in south Armagh says he can't forget his brutal ordeal.

* Coronavirus death toll now stands at 2,907 after 5 more people die - 1,648 new positive cases confirmed.

Opinion

* Owen Polley: The volume of propaganda in favour of the Northern Ireland Protocol is increasing.

* Morning View: Pupils have already lost too much schooling for an extended break.

Sport:

* Adam McLean says he is 'excited' by the prospect of a return to a full road racing schedule in 2022 after re-signing for Northern Ireland's McAdoo Kawasaki team for a fifth consecutive season.
