Dear reader

The Stormont Executive is facing renewed criticism from the business and hospitality sectors after Tuesday's announcement about the planned lifting of restrictions in Northern Ireland.

While the Executive confirmed a return of all pupils to schools after Easter, along with other measures like click and collect for non-essential retail and a return of outdoor sports training, there was no indication about when hospitality will return.

The chorus of criticism has been led by Simon Hamilton, the chief executive of Belfast Chamber, who claimed that an opportunity to give hope to business had been lost.

Northern Ireland has recorded a 24-hour period without a single Covid-19 related death, the Department of Health confirmed on Wednesday.

The number of new Covid-19 cases also remains at a modest level, with 161 infections recorded over the last 24 hours.
