Northern Ireland's chief scientific adviser Professor Ian Young has warned that as many as one in 40 people may have coronavirus in some parts of the region. He said the Mid Ulster council area has had the highest number of cases in the last week followed by the Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon area.
As part of the effort to help stop the spread of infections Stormont Justice Minister Naomi Long has confirmed it will be an offence to be away from home without a reasonable excuse. The fine will be £200 but can reach £5,000 if the case goes to court.
First Minister Arlene Foster has said she will not tolerate an "excuse to damage grammar schools and to end academic selection" from parties "using the executive to give them a platform". She went on to say "I hope we don't have to use the cross community veto to protect the transfer test and academic selection".
