So we are past the longest day, and the days are getting shorter already.

But, the best of summer should be yet to come!

It was blustery but sunny where I was yesterday. Not bad weather for a parade.

Meanwhile, hard politics is everywhere. The Roe v Wade abortion ruling has sparked debate on this side of the Atlantic

Today we report that the legal firm McCue, Jury and Partners, who are experts in terrorism cases, are taking an action against Gerry Adams on behalf of victims of violence. The claimants hope to prove what they say is his role in the IRA.

Cost of Living is a major area of concern, and is intersecting with the issues around the protocol

There have been so many tragic deaths. The GAA player, Damian Casey, in a swimming pool. The Shankill boy Corey Aughey, also in a pool accident abroad. The Dunclug boy Charlie Joyce in a biking accident.

I think in particular of Aideen Kennedy, whom I knew 20 years ago when we were both young reporters. Last year I spoke to her for the first time in years and I was horrified when she told me that her other three siblings had died in recent years. Now Aideen too, all four, which is so appalling.

Our biking corr Kyle White has been filing many reports on the season. Sadly this year that has included a spate of racing deaths.

Jim Fitzpatrick, owner of the Irish News, was 93 when he died yesterday. But he will be sorely missed in the newspaper world and beyond.

As ever there is so much more, on our website and in our print News Letter and Farming Life, this weekend's edition still in the shops.
