So the hour change meant we lost an hour in bed, but so what? What a joy are these long evenings, this glorious (now intermittent) sunshine ...

Elections are often held at a fine point in the calendar, late spring. The Stormont contest is under way.

Jim Allister's party has got permission to describe itself on the ballot paper as 'TUV - No Sea Border' (within this link is a video of Henry McDonald interviewing Mr Allister)

Meanwhile Sir Jeffrey Donaldson is warning that Sinn Fein's focus is to ignore the votes of DUP supporters and "sleepwalk" the other Assembly parties into their plans for a divisive border poll

Here are some of my basic thoughts on the election:

Whatever problems or disputes we have in Northern Ireland today, pale into comparison to World War Two, which people like my dad still clearly remember.
We have a review today of a book of wartime letters written by an American, Helen Turtle, who lived on Strangford Lough. Alf McCreary wrote the review of what sounds like a wonderful book.
And today's Big Interview is with Conor Bradford, whose parents were the late Roy and Hazel

And Farming Life led with Richard Halleron writing on how the Ukraine war continues to dominate the grain markets.

Meanwhile, this week farmers warned of a milk shortage

In sport Davey Todd and Manxman Conor Cummins will lead the charge for Clive Padgett's Milenco Honda team the North West 200 from May 10-14.

And in football, Portadown defender Howard Beverland has highlighted the behind-closed-doors homework behind on-pitch progress.

As every week, this is just a taster of our offering of many stories
