Good morning from the News Letter

In the news today:

DUP at 50

* Sir Jeffrey Donaldson has told DUP members he will not shy away from difficult decisions in the coming months as he warned that the UK's economic and constitutional integrity lie in the balance.

* DUP veteran Sammy Wilson is proud to have played a leading role in the DUP over 50 years – and believes the Conservative Party shows how it might progress in a more secular age.

* Northern Ireland's largest unionist party the DUP celebrates its 50th birthday

The Irish state has questions to answer over its historic handling of the IRA terror threat, with a report into the killing of Colleen McMurray revealing a web of cross-border conspiracy. That is the view of former Special Branch officer Dr William Matchett, following the release of yesterday's police ombudsman's report into the death of the 34-year-old constable.

TUV leader Jim Allister has described an eight-month Equality Commission probe into a missing equality screening document as "serious overkill". The commission – with a staff of 69 and a budget of about £5.4m – produced an extremely-complicated 9,000-word report this week, sparked by complaints from The Pat Finucane Centre and The Committee for the Administration of Justice.
