Covid-19 spike may be linked to shared microphone at karaoke party

It is expected to be almost a week before the Stormont government will decide whether or not to make facemasks compulsory in shops to help suppress Covid-19.

Good afternoon,

I'm sure the identification of a Covid-19 cluster in the Limavady area is causing considerable anxiety in the north west, with testing and contact tracing being conducted to identify anyone who may be potentially affected.

It is therefore understandable why there is concern that travellers from the United States - where there have been more than 140,000 Covid-related deaths - may put public health at risk on both sides of the Irish border. On Monday, the Irish Government will publish a 'green list' of countries deemed safe to travel to and from and it appears highly unlikely that either the US or Great Britain will be on it, meaning a period of self-quarantine will apply.

Currently, the Irish authorities require anyone coming into the Republic of Ireland, apart from those from Northern Ireland, to self-isolate for 14 days.

Have an enjoyable weekend and stay safe.
