It is Christmas! The days are getting longer! All is well with the world.

The two main Northern Ireland airports say flights are coming in despite disruption. Like many people I have relatives flying in this evening, so let's hope it stays normal

Many people leave NI to live elsewhere but even in the Troubles expats liked to come back at Christmas, a reflection on how much we love this place

I was struck by this poignant letter from a pensioner, which reminded me of how, selfishly, we can let older generations get left behind by technology (within it there is a link to an article in which I explain instances of getting left behind myself!)

There are real economic problems just now but at Christmas we can remember that life for almost everyone is better than it was 50 years ago
When people like me, who have little interest in pop music, start waxing lyrical about a pop star it might seem like we are trying to be cool. But I was aware of Terry Hall's brilliance because I was at just the right age to hear a lot of his music

It will be strange tomorrow - a king's speech at 3pm, when everyone under the age of 75 only ever remembers a queen's onehttps://www.newsletter.co.uk/heritage-and-retro/heritage/king-charles-expected-to-pay-tribute-to-late-queen-during-his-first-christmas-message-to-the-nation-3965784

Have a wonderful Christmas. We will be back in the shops on Boxing Day as normal and publishing online throughout
